I have stated it many times as we take a look at survival from the two different perspectives that come from urban vs. wilderness survival tactics. Simply put, in wilderness survival you are attempting to get to people, and in urban preparedness/survival you are most likely trying to avoid people. In everyday life this plays out in basic self-defense mindset, skills, tactics and gear.
Having a good sense of observation and awareness (or developing it) is a requirement to make yourself less vulnerable to someone hurting you. I am huge advocate of having your head up on a swivel, so you are not surprised in some encounter. It is that moment of surprise that a “bad guy” closes that gap and gets the advantage.
There are a few things that you can do that will help keep people from being able to do exactly that. In this video I share these simple tips while you are out and about in daily life.
