Must-have items for a survival fishing kit

There has been a huge oversight on my part because this is my first blog post on fishing kit items.  I have made some posts about fishing traps and my success with them, but this is my first that covers an actual kit you can put in your survival bag.  A good friend of mine who is an avid (and very good) fisherman made one up for me and my son.  Once he made it up for me and passed on some wisdom to me I realized the kit I had was one of two things either too technical (I had too much stuff in it) or I was relying on primitive methods.

As I have said on many occasions you need to carry as much as you feel comfortable carry, so it is with my survival fishing kit.  After listening to my friend and seeing how he KISSed it (Keep It Simple Stupid, me being the stupid one) I realized his kit had a lot more merit than did my own.  Therefore, I determined to do a video on it and share these simple items.  After the video you will see the list of items in this kit and amazon links if you want to pick some of these items up and make one for yourself.

Please note, I did not go fishing with the kit for reasons made clear in the video.  Check back in with us later in the spring and we will put this kit to work!

Also, please go to the Dan’s Depot Forums for TONS more fishing kits and info for survival fishing.

Come on, join in, let’s learn together!
